How Dead Am I Yet?
Regulation is a license to poison.
To achieve sustainability we need to exceed regulation until we have zero negative impacts (from humans’ presence and activity on the planet). The way to do this, the way forward, is to REthink our processes - redesigning industry & material flows so that exhausts, effluents, and trash are translated into nutrients, meaning that they become regarded as valuable nutrients for other industries in a dynamic web.
Business & Baseball
Aside from the fact that the words both begin with a “b,” business & baseball have little in common.
In baseball, you can not only slide home, but you also get three strikes.
In business, if the trading partner across the table from you has any wherewithal, you’re gonna get but one strike – and that’s all.
Endangered Species
Have you ever peered into the eyes of an endangered species and wondered, “…does it comprehend the nature of its imminent demise?”
Try it tonight, while you’re at the mirror brushing your teeth.
Macro-Rebuttal:
Imagine lobster boiling pots arrayed across an expansive stove, large as the globe.
In each one, there’s a child; one is even your grandchild. We’re talkin’ lots of pots.
Notice there’s a slow fire under each child. Surely we are cooking them to death.
If you could, wouldn’t you make the effort to reach through time and turn down that heat?
Disbelieving, wouldn’t you at least look inside that kitchen door, if only to get a sense of what might be going on? … your grandchildren.
Main Intent
The main intention of the blog aspect of this space (UNcom has its own mission) is to have an outlet for my more strident, acerbic and poetic observations, which which would not be appropriate for the corporate consulting site at Jon Warren Lentz.com.
